History of Country Standard Time
Country Standard Time started as a magazine in 1993 and added a website
in 1999. Both the print publication and the website are devoted to covering
country, bluegrass, roots/Americana and rockabilly music through insightful
features, news that matters, comprehensive CD, concert and book reviews,
opinion pieces, editorials, and more. What started as a regional publication
has become a magazine read throughout the U.S. at locales where music fans go:
live music clubs, record stores and the web.
The goal of both the magazine and web site since their inceptions has been
to inform and educate our knowledgeable readers about all forms of country music
– from releases by major labels to independent labels to artists who put
out their own music – in a straightforward and straight shooting, highly
readable and entertaining style. Our readers rely on us to be honest in our
coverage, a responsibility we take extremely seriously.
The website includes a comprehensive archive of the magazine's content dating
back to 1995. With information on 1,700 artists, 1,500 articles, interviews, and
columns, and over 3,300 CD reviews, as well as up-to-date news coverage, concert
reviews and book reviews, CountryStandardTime.com is an essential reference for
country music fans world-wide.
