Lil Nas X goes to the top (but not on the country chart)

Monday, April 8, 2019 – Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" may not be sufficiently country for the country charts, but it jumped 15 spots to go number one on the songs chart.

The Atlanta rapper had bee on the country charts with the song with a trap beat and a bit of a country sound as well, but one week after making the top 20, it was off the chart entirely with Billboard indicating the song didn't meet the criteria to be on the country chart. A few days later, Billy Ray Cyrus lent his talents to the song in are-recording for release last week.

Editorial: Walking the talk – When names like Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Waylon and the Hag are invoked, you're talking hard core country. These are the touchstones of country , the guys who made country music what it was and still is (or maybe can be).
