Brooks sets September for solo release

Thursday, July 5, 2012 – Kix Brooks will release his solo Arista Nashville debut album, "New To This Town," on Sept 11.

The 12-song collection, with 9 co-written by Brooks, was produced by Brooks with Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts co-producing the title track.

"I made an album that really is close to my heart, and it's a whole lot of fun," Brooks said. "For the most part, the music's just...it's kind of fun and games and hangin' it out there and thinkin' about gettin' back in a lot of those clubs and festivals and gettin' to play again. It's like, you know, people come to enjoy themselves, and I think this album in a lot of ways is about that."

Songs on the CD are:

1. New To This Town (Featuring Joe Walsh)

2. Moonshine Road

3. Bring It On Home

4. There's The Sun

5. Complete 360

6. My Baby

7. Tattoo

8. In The Right Place

9. Next To That Woman

10. Let's Do This Thing

11. Closin' Time At Home

12. She Knew I Was A Cowboy

Brooks will make his debut as a solo performer on the Grand Ole Opry on July 10.

New to This Town CD review - New to This Town
With no disrespect to Kix Brooks, but back when he was half of the super successful Brooks & Dunn, this diminutive one sometimes seemed to be Andrew Ridgeley to George Michaels; he was Oates to Hall. Hopefully, though, the wonderful new "New to This Town" will put that stereotype to rest. Brooks was also the humorous, gregarious side of Brooks & Dunn, which starkly contrasted Ronnie's many times uptight, shy stage presence. There's little that's overly serious on »»»
Editorial: Walking the talk – When names like Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Waylon and the Hag are invoked, you're talking hard core country. These are the touchstones of country , the guys who made country music what it was and still is (or maybe can be). When these folks would sing about being down-and-out and the rough-and-tumble, they knew of what they were singing about. Fast forward a few years to the country singers of today. »»»
Concert Review: Turner pleases the traditionalists – Josh Turner is a hard-working citizen, a man of faith and a loyal father and husband. He also happens to be one of the youngest members inducted to the Grand Ole Opry. In short, he is the embodiment of country music's champion of the everyman. This night was special for him. He was celebrating an anniversary with his wife and his 18th with his label MCA.... »»»
Concert Review: Not much really changes for LaFarge – Just one look at the stage made it clear that this was not going to be a typical night with Pokey LaFarge. There were only a few guitars to be seen, which meant that LaFarge was going it alone. "I've been touring for years with a band," LaFarge told perhaps a few hundred people before he had even played a note.... »»»

Chip Kinman celebrates brother, career on "Sounds Like Music" For a brief moment last summer, the news of Tony Kinman's death was, if not greatly exaggerated, then at least fortuitously premature. Shiflett learns "Hard Lessons" Until recently, Chris Shiflett took a somewhat obsessive/compulsive approach to his music career. For the past two decades, Shiflett has been the primary guitar foil for Dave Grohl in Foo Fighters; early in his tenure, Shiflett was so self-deprecatingly... »»»
