Brooks turns to screen
Monday, November 11, 2013
– Kix Brooks announced today his first lead acting role.
Brooks, one half of the late duo Brooks & Dunn, stars in the western "Ambush At Dark Canyon," available now on demand, at Wal-Mart and Sam's Club on Jan. 14 and at all retailers on March 11.
The Wal-Mart release will exclusively include a CD soundtrack produced by Brooks and features a collaboration with Randy Houser, who also makes his acting debut.
"My fans have continued to let me keep doing what I do, whether that's as an artist, radio host or actor," said Brooks. "They've given me the chance to try new things and a reason to work harder than I ever have before. I'm really proud of all of these projects and can't wait to see what we get into next."
Brooks also serves as executive producer of the new film "A Country Christmas," available on DVD at Wal-Mart now and at all retails outlets tomorrow. The movie is the first of his new family-friendly entertainment brand and also features special appearances by Jay DeMarcus and Trace Adkins. Both Brooks and DeMarcus take producer credits for the holiday movie's music.

New to This Town
With no disrespect to Kix Brooks, but back when he was half of the super successful Brooks & Dunn, this diminutive one sometimes seemed to be Andrew Ridgeley to George Michaels; he was Oates to Hall. Hopefully, though, the wonderful new "New to This Town" will put that stereotype to rest. Brooks was also the humorous, gregarious side of Brooks & Dunn, which starkly contrasted Ronnie's many times uptight, shy stage presence.

These are the touchstones of country , the guys who made country music what it was and still is (or maybe can be). When these folks would sing about being down-and-out and the rough-and-tumble, they knew of what they were singing about. Fast forward a few years to the country singers of today. »»»
Concert Review: Carlile goes from excellent to memorable musical event
The last time Brandi Carlile came through town, she was promoting 2018's "By the Way, I Forgive You," which would deservedly go on to win the 2019 Grammy Award for Best Americana Album. This time out, Carlile performed fewer songs from that strong effort, which amounted to a more well-rounded live overview of her career to date.... »»»
Concert Review: Tuttle does well by coming home
Molly Tuttle has won kudos for her acoustic guitar playing. So much so that she's captured the IBMA award for Guitarist of the Year, the first female to win that acclaim from the bluegrass organization. But it's not so much Tuttle's guitar playing that stood out live.
Yes, that serves her well for sure. But it's more that her... »»»
