Grammy reaction

Mike Sudhalter  |  February 11, 2008

I'd been so busy that I forgot about the Grammy Awards. Most of the time, I don't pay attention to them because the focus isn't country music.

But there were some deserving winners from the genre - Vince Gill, Carrie Underwood, Alison Krauss (with Robert Plant), Keith Urban. And The Eagles. They're country? Ok, whatever.

I haven't heard Gill's album "These Days" that earned him country album of the year, but I've heard good things said about it.

Underwood won the best female country vocal performance "Before He Cheats," a good song that received lots of airplay on the pop stations.

I feel like the Grammy Awards are given to the most pop-country artists of the genre, because the awards are selected from outside the country music industry.

It would be nice to see Brad Paisley, Josh Turner, George Strait...traditional artists take home some hardware at the big show.
