Country Mike Blog

Proving its country

Mike Sudhalter  |  October 17, 2008

I realize I've been very busy here in the Lone Star State, but I will be updating the blog more often. And we'll also try to make it more nationally-centric, instead of just Texas-centric. Sometimes us Texans tend to forget there's 49 other states out there.

Should there be a board that certifies whether something is country or not? Kind of like, how food, vegetables and medicine get approved by the FDA. It might not be a bad idea, but who would we choose for this board.

Perhaps, a rating system would be more appropriate. HTLH - would be the ultimate category, Honky Tonkin' Like Hank (Williams Sr.), then there would be NTC - neo-traditional country for those artists like Alan Jackson and George Strait. One step down the ladder would be ABC - a lil bit country for Carrie Underwood and Kenny Chesneys and on the bottom rung, SLBP, sounds like bad pop for the likes of Rascal Flatts and Faith Hill.
