Concert for the Coast
Mike Sudhalter | October 26, 2008
No group of artists come together like those in the Texas Music scene. Aaron Watson consistently asks his fans to purchase Jason Boland's albums at the AW merch table; Boland is not touring because of a throat injury, and his peers know how difficult it is to get by when you're not touring.
The generosity extends beyond the artists' themselves. Throughout Texas, Radio Free Texas will be hosting 10 Concert for the Coast fundraisers for areas of Houston and East Texas affected by Hurricane Ike last month.
The shows will be held in Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Beaumont, College Station, Austin, Luckenbach, Mineral Wells, New Braunfels, San Antonio and San Marcos. I will try to make it by the Houston show at the Firehouse Saloon, sometime between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m. To find out where you're local show is, log on to the Concert For the Coast web site.
Over 100 artists will be performing, and there's a suggested donation of $10 per person. The concert will also have raffles and auctions for merchandise and memorabilia.
If you're near any of these wonderful Texas cities, try to visit one of these events to support some great music and a great cause.
