Ten Years Coming

Mike Sudhalter  |  January 17, 2009

If you're a truck driver, you should never leave home without a Dale Watson CD in your cab. At least that's why I've heard, according to Aaron Watson - no relation - in his song "Diesel Drivin' Daddy."

There's not much music these days that shows the honky-tonk spirit quite as much as Dale Watson, and 11 years ago, he released "The Truckin Sessions." And in April, the Sessions' second volume will come out.

I love trucking songs from Red Sovine to Red Simpson and Jerry Reed, and nowadays, the Canadian-based Road Hammers, but I think Watson does them as good as anyone.

There will be 14 songs, including one of my personal favorites - "Truckin' Queen."
