Every song

Mike Sudhalter  |  January 24, 2009

Hey, I can't tell y'all how good it feels to be feeling good again. I had the flu for the past week and felt like I was in slow motion.

I just got to thinking how when you're broken-hearted, every song can seem like it's speaking to you. You even twist the words in your mind to think that those songs are about your specific situation. Of course, they're not.

I guess good songs are both descriptive and generic enough at the same time.

Occasionally, you'll hear a song that will hit you right in the gut. For me, it was "Everything is You" by the Eli Young Band.

I'm currently listening to an album of tunes from Nashville songwriters.....they all sound pretty good, but the only one I recognize is "Walkaway Joe", performed by songwriter Vince Melamed.

As you would imagine, it's vastly different than the Trisha Yearwood version. Much more bluesy and rootsy.
