Strait to Dallas

Mike Sudhalter  |  February 19, 2009

George Strait closed one great sports/entertainment venue, The Houston Astrodome, and will open another this spring, when he plays the first-ever concert at the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

I can't wait for June 6, to head north on I-45 to see this great show. Playing with Strait will be Oklahomans Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton and Utah native Julianne Hough.

They couldn't find any fellow Texans to join Strait on the bill?

It should be a historic, entertaining day for Strait fans and those wanted to catch a peak at the new stadium - which will host the Cowboys, the Super Bowl, the NBA All-Star Game and the NCAA Final Four. But not until Strait gets things started on the right foot.

I was relieved to hear that 88-year-old Grand Ole Opry star Jimmy Dickens was released from the hospital after brain surgery. I saw Dickens on the Opry and at Brad Paisley's Fan Club Party. He's definitely a link between country music's past and it's present. And I definitely enjoyed seeing him in concert. Credit Paisley, who we recently discovered is quite popular in Canada - for bringing Dickens back into the psyche of country music fans.
