Choctaw Bingo

Mike Sudhalter  |  February 25, 2009

OK, this song is a whopping eight minutes and 35 seconds, but I love it. Because of the melody, the funny yet totally random story - performed by James McMurtry, who sings about dysfunctional relatives and gambling.

He references a lot of things that I've heard of - talking about that big McDonalds on the I-44 (Will Rogers Turnpike) overpass between Tulsa and Joplin, Mo. And then, he sings about Baxter Springs, Kan. and Oklahoma Casinos.

And even drops a reference on Lake Texoma and Class 2A football.

And by the way, it was on the soundtrack of Toby Keith's recent film, "Beer For My Horses." You'd figure an Oklahoman like Keith would like to feature a song with so many OKLA references.

Classic. And each of the 515 seconds.
