Nichols in Australia
Mike Sudhalter | March 3, 2009
Joe Nichols is touring for 10 days in Australia. I think it's a good idea for Australians to be exposed to American Country Music. But modern country on either continent is very similar.
The traditional Australian (and American) Country Music is very unique. Ours talks about heartache and drinking, and theirs, mostly, tales about the Outback.
All of the modern stuff is very generic and about "Love."
I'd like to see more Australian artists tour in America. I recently heard that Nichols played a club in the Houston area. That doesn't sound like anything out of the ordinary, but it seems somewhat rare for Nashville artists to play clubs around here. Usually, that's reserved for Texas Country artists.
Although Eric Church will be coming to a club in Houston - The Firehouse Saloon - that almost exclusively hosts Texas Music artists. Interesting. Because the last time I saw Church - outside Sacramento, Calif. - he was playing a club that had only hard rock acts perform there.
