AI meets The Opry

I don't know about this pair - American Idol and the Grand Ole Opry.

The GOO will be the theme on AI next week. What songs will contestants pick and will they be able to do them justice?

Carrie Underwood and Randy Travis will sing "I Told You So" together. Travis originally recorded the song in the 1980's, and Underwood covered it on her most recent album. I had the rare opportunity to see Underwood and Travis on the same bill in the summer of 2007.

Brad Paisley, an Opry member like Underwood and Travis, will also perform his new song "Then". I haven't heard it yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

I'd like to know whether the Idol contestants are going to choose more modern songs or classic Opry hits. I usually don't watch AI, but I might have to make an exception next week.
