Bluebonnets, etc.
Mike Sudhalter | April 3, 2009
So, I was driving to the beautiful town of Brenham, Texas the other day. Folks between Houston and there were pulling to the side of U.S. Hwy. 290 to take pictures with the bluebonnets that were growing alongside the road. Too bad, it was a strictly business trip and I didn't get to visit the Blue Bell Ice Cream factory. That's what Brenham is famous for - in case you didn't know. The city of about 14,000 is also a neat place to stop between Houston and Austin.
I thought it might have been a cruel pre-April Fool's Day joke, but I found a local radio station that plays Texas Country - 105.3. It's Tomball-Magnolia-Hempstead and doesn't always come in crystal clear - but hey, it's better than nothing.
My girlfriend, Betsy, never thought I'd have heard the song "Men Don't Change" by Amy Dalley. I think she was shocked when she played it on her iphone and I immediately identified the artist and knew all of the words.
And I also gave Dalley some props by telling Betsy that the East Tennessean finally released a full-length album after her departure from Curb.
