Vern Gosdin passes away
Mike Sudhalter | April 29, 2009
Country music legend Vern Gosdin passed away last night at 74. He was known by country music fans as "The Voice."
"Set 'Em Up Joe" and "Chiseled In Stone" were country classics, but why is this Alabama native not mentioned in the same breath as George Jones and Merle Haggard?
I'd have to guess longevity....he didn't have as long of a career or as many hits as they did. But country music fans should stand up and take notice of Gosdin's career and impact on the genre.
It's unlikely we'll ever see/hear another artist quite like him.
