Montgomery Gentry to become Opry members

Mike Sudhalter  |  May 27, 2009

Congratulations to Montgomery Gentry on being invited to join the Grand Ole Opry. The induction ceremony will take place on June 23.

I remember listening to MG 10 years ago when they made their debut - "Tattoos & Scars." Their tough-guy image has toned down some since that album, but not by much.

It's also interesting that Eddie Montgomery will be in the Opry, but his younger brother, 1990's country music star John Michael Montgomery - is not.

Folks talk about the Class of '89, but '99 is looking pretty impressive too with MG and Brad Paisley debuting that year.

Everyone knows MG's hits, but if you want to hear one of their forgotten gems - check out "Black Jack Fletcher and Mississippi Sam."
