ACM Part 4: The Results
Mike Sudhalter | May 15, 2007
Reba: "Britney Spears is forming a new country group, it's called Rascal Flat Top". Another funny one-liner.
Faith Hill's new song - "I Want to Stay Lost". OK, can someone, anyone, explain to me how this song fits into the country genre. It's even too pop for pop country. Hill is just a pop singer who happens to have been born in the south. If I wanted to listen to that type of music, I'd listen to Kelly Clarkson or Celine Dion. Hill's top albums were her first two, Take Me as I Am and It Matters To Me.
Oh wait, I'm on the West Coast, so this is a tape of the show. I just checked online and found out that Kenny Chesney completed the four-peat by winning entertainer of the year for the fourth consecutive year and Carrie Underwood won female vocalist of the year.
Surprised? I'm not, but I don't think the best candidates won. I don't want to wait around to hear the acceptance speeches, because Chesney and Underwood will continue winning the same awards for the next 5-7 years.
If you'll excuse me, I'm going to ditch the ACM's a half-hour early and check out a live event, the Golden State-Utah NBA playoff game.
