Tim McGraw's touching performance
Mike Sudhalter | May 18, 2007
I switched the channel a half-hour too early during Tuesday's Academy of Country Music Awards, and missed one a defining moment in the career of one Tim McGraw
McGraw sang the touching "If You're Reading This" about a fallen soldier's letter home. The outstanding performance was brought to my attention by a reader, Hope A. of California
Check out Tim's performance from the ACM:
A few years ago, it would have been hard to imagine McGraw performing a song that tugs the heartstrings more than "Don't Take The Girl" or "Live Like You Were Dying".
This song is so special because it speaks to the human costs of a military conflict. It's a touching song, and more importantly, it's done in good taste.
It's so easy for singers to write songs bashing politicians and their policies. It takes a lot more insight to come up with a heartfelt song like McGraw performed on Tuesday night.
