Singing with responsibility
Mike Sudhalter | March 28, 2010
Music, especially rowdy, upbeat music is all about having a good time. Scratch that. A great time.
But if there's one condition for having a good time, it's that everything's done in good fun and everyone gets home safely.
That's why Texas Country artist/producer Shawn Camfield of Humble, Texas compiled an album of songs for "Rocking for Responsibility: Volume One" by Really Listens Texas
Camfield's label, Lucky Duck Records, partnered with Budweiser and Yellow Cab to promote safe driving, and he thanked "all the artists and their support in making our live music community safer."
At live shows, Camfield has become personally involved and ordered taxis for people who appeared too intoxicated to drive home.
The album includes two of his songs, "Yesterday Won't Change," and "Lights Get Low" as well as songs from rising Texas Country stars - the Still Standin Band, Hunter McKithan Band, David Grace, Bo Cox, Hill Country Jane, Matt Mead Band and Matt Begley.
Kudos to Camfield for combining good music with a great cause.
