City of Hope Softball Game

Mike Sudhalter  |  June 11, 2012

It's pretty rare to see two American Idol winners, plus several NFL players in the same place

The City of Hope Softball Game at Greer Stadium is one of the best events during CMA Festival week in Nashville.

The event raises money for Cancer Research and features some of the top entertainers in country music (Carrie Underwood, Vince Gill, Brantley Gilbert, Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina) as well as some of the top athletes in the City. Several Tennessee Titans played in the game this year, including quarterback Jake Locker and tight end Jared Cook.

So did Denver Broncos wide receiver Eric Decker, who is engaged to country singer Jessie James.

The game isn't officially associated with the CMA Festival, but it's one of the most popular events of the week.

Yes, the weather is often hot and it's pretty early in the morning (especially after a late night at LP Field or Lower Broadway), but it's well worth it.

The stars have as much fun as the fans do, and most of them sign autographs for the fans after the game.
