Fervor Coulee Bluegrass Blog
First-time festival MC, long-time attendee
Donald Teplyske | July 23, 2019
I was pleased (and no little bit humbled) to be asked to serve as one of several volunteer emcees for an area bluegrass festival later this summer.
I've emceed many (too many) bluegrass concerts over the years, but not in the last seven years. I also know what a good emcee doesn't do, at least in my opinion: become the show, be distracting, rude, or politically opinionated, and relay inaccurate or confused information.
Here's what I am wondering: does anyone have advice for a first-time festival MC? Any fresh, public-domain quips you would like to share? Drop me a line, if you would: fervorcoulee@gmail.com. I will greatly appreciate your suggestions, and look forward to seeing you at Blueberry Bluegrass [https://blueberrybluegrass.com] August 2, 3, and 4 in Stony Plain, Alberta. With thanks, Donald
