Alison Krauss, Robert Plant to headline Edmonton Folk Music Festival, 2024

In an unexpected, early announcement, the Edmonton Folk Music Festival has announced that Alison Krauss and Robert Plant will headline and close the 45th edition of the massive Canadian fester August 11.

Typically, the fest announces its lineup later in the spring, but apparently this news was too significant not to share early- most likely, as the duo's "Can't Let Go" tour dates were being released today, holding back the announcement wasn't possible. The complete festival lineup is scheduled to be revealed on May 28 with tickets on sale June 1.

In a prepared statement, Festival Producer Terry Wickham expressed, "This is one of the most exciting bookings in the history of our festival, and a brilliant way to close on Sunday night."

This is a significant 'get' for the long-running festival. Previous headliners include Elvis Costello, Van Morrison, Earl Scruggs, Joni Mitchell, Rickie Lee Jones, Rosanne Cash, and other pillars of contemporary music.
