Special Consensus Hits the Top 5
Donald Teplyske | April 21, 2012
You may recall a few weeks ago I posted here a review of Special Consensus' new album "Scratch Gravel Road." I made mention of Monroe, one of the strongest songs of tribute recorded in honor of the Father of Bluegrass.
I was pleased last week to see the Special C debut on the Bluegrass Today chart at #18, and was even more excited to see the song move up to #5 on the chart for April 20.
I haven't been exactly thrilled with the music I've been hearing on Sirius/XM's Bluegrass Junction of late- too much of the 'same old, same old.' At least in part, that is the reason I haven't bothered writing about the bluegrass charts of late; I guess I'll get back to that routine sometime, but not today. Anyhow, I haven't heard Monroe on the satellite radio yet, but a quick search of their playlists informs me that they are spinning it regularly, along with a couple other songs from the album.
Congratulations to Greg Cahill and the Special C for hitting the top 5; I predict a number one in their future real soon.
