Keith Urban wants to get close

Jessica Phillips  |  May 4, 2009

As Keith Urban gets ready to launch his "Escape the World Together" tour this week at the Mohegan Sun Resort & Casino, he says he is always working to keep a close-knit feel to his concerts even in a huge arena setting.

His new stage features a 3,500 square foot platform with two ramps that will "melt into the audience," he says. His fans can also expect more easy access to the star; he alludes to running through the crowd to a satellite stage that will be set up in the middle of the arena for some of his more intimate acoustic performances each night (any guitarist wannabes in the crowd should love this).

"I like the 'us-ness' of touring. I like when it's 'you and me' together. It's what we're striving to make happen with this tour...even for the guy in the very furthest row," Urban says.
