Move on over Simpson, Come on over Jennifer Love Hewitt

Jessica Phillips  |  May 19, 2009

Has no one from Nashville relayed the news of Jessica Simpson's faltering country music career to actress Jennifer Love Hewitt? Apparently not.

It seems the I Know What You Did Last Summer actress is still intent on trading a script for a mic. She has had a brief singing career, with a hit song in Japan and a pop album, Barenaked, but never took off in America.

"Jennifer is writing a country song," her boyfriend Jamie Kennedy says. "I really want to make her a new demo for her music, because I think she should do singing again. She's so good." (Kudos to Jennifer for the supportive beau).

Hollywood and Broadway seem to love our country leading men and ladies more than we love their stars. Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, Dwight Yoakum, Leann Rimes, Kenny Rogers, Randy Travis, and Tim McGraw (just to name a few) have all had successful crossovers into the film format. Meanwhile other attempts to turn Hollywood elite into solid country artists (ahem, John Corbett and Kevin Costner) haven't fared quite so well.

It will be interesting to see what Hewitt comes up with if she decides to make a full album. The country industry seemed quite fair in giving Simpson a shot, and hopefully will extend the same courtesy to Hewitt. Hit us with your best shot, Jenn.
