Nobody Puts Jack Ingram In A Corner...

Jessica Phillips  |  August 26, 2009

If they do, he will probably write his way out of it. After being dropped by a former record label, Ingram says he felt rejected. "I painted myself into a corner and people had stopped believing in me," Ingram said. "Writing was a catharsis and I decided to get up out of that corner."

Now with Big Machine Records, Ingram indeed wrote a song about that dark experience, "In The Corner." The tune is included on Ingram's latest album, Big Dreams and High Hopes, which released this week.

Ingram credits his college education, to an extent, for helping him to develop his songwriting talents. "My degree is in psychology and songwriting is definitely psychology," he said. "I knew I was going to play music, but I enjoyed school...It was like karma. I realized it was a great opportunity and made sure I finished."

Ingram commemorated his record release by breaking the Guinness World Record for "Most Consecutive Radio Interviews In A 24 Hour Period." He shattered the previous record of 96 interviews, by speaking to 215 radio stations across the United States, Canada, Ireland, and Australia.

"After the last 24 hours, I officially have nothing left to say," Ingram concluded triumphantly.
