Wynonna Launches Professional-In-Residence at Belmont University

Jessica Phillips  |  September 10, 2009

When I attended Belmont University, I learned the ins and outs of the music industry from professors who had worked as music journalists, publicists, music lawyers, former label execs, and songwriters-all positions that allowed the professors to work closely (and professionally) with several country artists. This year, a group of Belmont seniors will be taught by superstar singer/actress Wynonna herself.

Wynonna is helping to launch the university's inaugural Professional-in-Residence program. Judd, along with her longtime producer (and ace musician) Don Potter, as well as her manager Kerry Hansen will hold three 2-hour sessions to discuss Wynonna's career in the music industry. Topics will include "Challenges of the Creative Lifestyle," "Artistic Development," "Planning Your Career," "Art Vs. Commerce," and "Managing Life on the Road."

Wynonna is particularly excited about the program, stating "I am looking forward to the opportunity to share my testimony with the next generation in hopes that my story will encourage them to follow their dreams."
