Alison Krauss takes the Opry to church with A Living Prayer

Jessica Phillips  |  October 13, 2009

Alison Krauss & Union Station performed last night at the Grand Ole Opry as part of the Rounder Records 40th Anniversary Celebration.

A highlight of the evening was when Alison, surrounded at one mic by Jerry Douglas, Dan Tyminski, Ron Block, and Barry Bales, sang "A Living Prayer." The performance was reverant, intimate, passionate, and even worshipful.

For a few moments, it felt like the Opry had gone back to its roots and it seemed like Sunday morning came in the middle of the night this week. The crowd immediately gave a standing ovation when it was over, cheering until the group came back onstage for an encore (the haunting "Ghost In This House").

For those who could not be there to celebrate with Rounder and company last night, watch the video above to see Alison Krauss & Union Station perform "A Living Prayer."
