Carrie Underwood's Boyfriend Inspires Song on Play On
Jessica Phillips | November 4, 2009
Now that country queen Carrie Underwood's new album has released, the usually reserved Underwood is using the liner notes to give a lovey-dovey shoutout to boyfriend and Ottawa Senators hockey player Mike Fisher.
"Thank you #12," she writes (#12 refers to Fisher's jersey number). "You are the most amazing addition to my life! You are such a wonderful person and have had such an amazing hand in the building of this album and in the growth of me as a person. I love you so much. You make my life better in every way! I thank God for you every day ... xoxo, Carrie."
Fisher indeed had a hand in the album, inspiring the song inspirational "Temporary Home." Fisher developed the song's title while the couple were going through a bible study by Saddleback Church pastor Rick Warren.
"In the book, he talks about this being our temporary home, that we need to do what we can here but remember that this is literally a stop," Underwood says. "We're headed someplace else."
Both Underwood and Fisher are devout Christians-Fisher participates in Hockey Ministries International, and recently made a trip to El Salvador with the child sponsorship organization World Vision.
