Maggot Brain (Bloodshot, 1997)

The Volebeats' "Maggot Brain," a cover of the old P-Funk classic, is an ethereal instrumental work, evoking a late Sixties psychedelia mood reminiscent of The Beatles in their drug-influenced period (the masterful guitar playing recalls George Harrison on "She's So Heavy"). The only drawback is this beautiful work is annoyingly split between the two sides of 7" vinyl. This should have been released as a CD single, or included on the album.
