Songs 4 Worship Country (Time Life, 2007)
Various Artists
Reviewed by Dr. Bobby Jones
Acoustic instruments are used, but do not predominate, and many of the cuts rely on radio friendly bass and drum back-beat. Some feature distortion and electric guitar instrumentation. However, the lyrics are not drowned out by overproduction, and the songs still tell their stories. The closer, "Doxology," one right out of the Methodist Hymn Book, is beautifully rendered in complex a cappella multiple female harmony arrangement by The Wilsons.
The CD serves as an excellent introductory compilation for the country music fan wanting to learn about worship through praise band music. It will also be of interest to veteran praise band participants who wish to study the interpretations of professional artists from the country music field.
