Guy receives Americana honor
Wednesday, May 23, 2018 – Bluesman Buddy Guy is the 2018 AmericanaLifetime Achievement Honoree for Instrumentalist, it was announced today.
Guy will receive the award at the Americana Honors & Awards on Sept. 12 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
Guy is a seven-time Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee. He has played blues guitar on numerous sessions with Chuck Berry, Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters.
The Chicago bluesman has enjoyed such hit albums as "Damn Right I've Got the Blues" and "Born to Play Guitar. Guy, 81, will release "The Blues is Alive and Well" on June 15. The disc features Mick Jagger and James Bay.
