Ballerini to join Opry

Wednesday, March 6, 2019 – Kelsea Ballerini was surprised on Tuesday night's show by Opry group Little Big Town with an invitation to become an official Grand Ole Opry member.

After Ballerini performed her segment, Little Big Town took the stage to close out the show, inviting Ballerini back to perform the group's hit "Girl Crush" with them. As the song concluded, the band changed its final lyrics to "Kelsea Ballerini, do you wanna join the Opry?"

"Yes," Ballerini said, "I'm gonna pass out I think."

Ballerini recalled having visited the Opry at age 13 with her mother and knowing then that she wanted to support the Opry, even if only as a fan. "To be on this stage is the greatest gift in the world," she said. "This is the home of country music, and I get to be a part of it."

"For the rest of your life," Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild added.

"We are thrilled at the thought of Kelsea Ballerini joining the Opry family," said Opry General Manager Sally Williams. "So many of us at the Opry have been fans of her recordings, her songwriting and her live performances since she played the Opry for the very first time. Having grown to know her personally in the years since, we love and respect her just as much as a person as an artist. We look so forward to her Opry induction in April and to all the years of great music we'll share."

CD reviews for Kelsea Ballerini

CD review - kelsea Once unheard of, more than a few of today's country queens don't necessarily stick to their own genre. Kelsea Ballerini's most streamed track by far is her collaboration with The Chainsmokers, "This Feeling." That's not to say the rest of her catalog did poorly. Ballerini scored a top five country album out of the gate with her debut in 2015. "The First Time" had great flavors of R&B and sounded very assured for a come-out roll. ...
CD review - Unapologetically It already seems like Kelsea Ballerini is a fixture on the scene, but America's barely had time to blink since her debut, "The First Time." Four major singles, a headlining tour and an armful of awards are just some of the harvest that followed. Some of that star power exceeds musical gifts - Ballerini has that insta-charm that makes her a ready TV guest or host. She's from Tennessee and smiles for miles. But she also gives off a wiser, worldlier vibe than many others of her ...
CD review - The First Time "Why do we need you? There's already a Taylor Swift." So said a Nashville record executive to a teenage Kelsea Ballerini. It undoubtedly stung at the time - but she was still in high school and had only travelled from Knoxville. Now that same executive is likely pricing a self-kicking machine. Ballerini's self-titled EP released last year scored big with a Top Ten Country single, "Love Me Like You Mean It." "The First Time," her full-sized debut, has now ...
