Carrie Underwood takes American Music Awards honors
Monday, November 19, 2007 – Carrie Underwood won three awards at Sunday's 35th Annual American Music Awards. Underwood took the T-Mobile Text-In Award, a special award in which fans voted for their favorite from a list including Akon, Daughtry, who won three awards, Fergie and Norah Jones.
Underwood also took the album award for "Some Hearts" over Tim McGraw's "Let It Go" and Rascal Flatts's "Me And My Gang" and the female artist award with Martina McBride and Taylor Swift also nominated.
McGraw and Rascal Flatts did not go home empty handed. McGraw won the male vocalist honor over Toby Keith and Brad Paisley, while Rascal Flatts received the band, duo or group award over Big & Rich and Brooks & Dunn.
