Underwood prepares to give "My Gift"

Monday, July 20, 2020 – Carrie Underwood will release her first-ever Christmas album, "My Gift," on Sept. 25.

Underwood, who teased the holiday release during her virtual fan club party this summer, shared a trailer for the album, which includes footage from the recording studio, album cover photo shoot and a personal message about how she arrived at the title, "My Gift."

"I've always wanted to make a Christmas album, and it's been a long time coming," said Underwood. "I knew this would be my next music project after wrapping my tour last year, and I think it's turned out to be the perfect time for an album like this, in this period of such personal and spiritual reflection. For me, it's more important than ever to focus on the true meaning of Christmas in a project like this. Even though it has been a tough year for all of us, sometimes I feel like the greatest realizations can be inspired by the most difficult times and make us more grateful for the things we do have and for what truly matters."

Greg Wells produced and arranged the album. He has written and produced Adele, Celine Dion, Keith Urban, and P!nk, as well as the "The Greatest Showman" soundtrack. "My Gift" features an orchestra, led by arranger, composer, and conductor David Campbell. The disc was mixed by 14-time GRAMMY Award winning mixer, Serban Ghenea.

Although Underwood has previously recorded several Christmas songs the album will feature traditional favorites celebrating her faith and the spiritual nature of the holiday, as well as original material. The track list, songwriters and special guests will be revealed at a later date.

CD review - My Savior Carrie Underwood's gospel music album may not be traditional in the sense that she sings these songs the same way she heard them as a child growing up. However, on the traditional/modern country music spectrum, this album leans closer to traditional country music than just about anything Underwood's recorded. Underwood always sings well, no matter how her songs are arranged, but it's a true treat to hear that voice without much of the big production that usually accompanies it. ...
CD review - My Gift It makes logical sense that Carrie Underwood, arguably mainstream country music's best pure vocalist, would make a Christmas album. And make no mistake about it, this is a 'Christmas' album, as opposed to a 'holiday' release. These 11 tracks are nearly all spiritual in nature. Therefore, you won't hear about Santa, reindeer or even toys under the tree. The only truly secular track is "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," which is not – by a long ...
CD review - Cry Pretty Carrie Underwood's life was reading straight from the storybooks: one of the few American Idol Winners with ongoing success; a professional athlete for a husband; a beautiful baby boy. The string of great fortune turned sharply in 2017, when Underwood began the unfathomable experience of three consecutive lost pregnancies. This was atop a frightening fall at her home that ended with her face in nearly 50 stitches. Sharing these moments with her fans makes the beamingly-beautiful singer ...
