Dolly gets Jolly

Thursday, August 13, 2020 – Dolly Parton will give her own Christmas present to fans in the form of "A Holly Dolly Christmas" coming out on Oct. 2.

Releasing on Butterfly Records in partnership with 12Tone Music, this is Dolly's first holiday album in 30 years. This collection of music includes classics and a few original tracks from Parton.

She solely wrote five songs on the album and one additional co-write with Kent Wells. The album also features incredible duets with Michael Bublé, Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus, Jimmy Fallon and Willie Nelson, plus a special song with her brother, Randy Parton.

"I am so excited to announce my new Christmas album 'A Holly Dolly Christmas.' I have recorded several Christmas classics like 'Holly Jolly Christmas', as well as some new material that I hope might become Christmas classics. I've recorded five duets with five very special artists as you can see," said Parton.

"I figured since everybody probably wouldn't get to celebrate Christmas as usual this year, I wanted to be creative instead of sitting around at the house this summer. So I put on my mask, gloves and practiced social distancing, as well as all of the wonderful musicians and singers, and we proceeded to put together what I think is some of the best work that I've ever done. Kent Wells produced the album. As you know, Kent has been my friend, band leader and producer for many years. He's outdone himself on this one. I'm just hoping that you're gonna love it as much as we loved putting it together. So enjoy and Merry Christmas."

The track listing is:
1. Holly Jolly Christmas - Dolly Parton
2. Christmas Is (feat. Miley Cyrus) - Dolly Parton
3. Cuddle Up, Cozy Down Christmas - Dolly Parton, Michael Bublé
4. Christmas On The Square - Dolly Parton
5. Circle Of Love - Dolly Parton
6. All I Want For Christmas Is You - Dolly Parton, Jimmy Fallon
7. Comin' Home For Christmas - Dolly Parton
8. Christmas Where We Are (feat. Billy Ray Cyrus) - Dolly Parton
9. Pretty Paper - Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson
10. Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus - Dolly Parton
11. You Are My Christmas (feat. Randy Parton) - Dolly Parton
12. Mary, Did You Know? - Dolly Parton

Parton recentlyo announced her partnership with Chronicle Books to release "Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics" on Nov. 17.

The visual memoir and annotated songbook will give a look at Parton's career as a songwriter and musician.

CD reviews for Dolly Parton

CD review - Pure & Simple Dolly Parton is no stranger to flash. Even before our modern country era, where many of the most successful artists rival contemporary pop stars for high profile image manipulation, Parton had the city girl look down pat (alas, without ever denying her Appalachian roots). However, this master songwriter has simply given us an album about as close to purity as one can get. The incredibly bright Parton is far from simple, however, so the "simple" in this album's title solely refers ...
CD review - Blue Smoke Of all the songs you never expected Dolly Parton to cover, Bon Jovi's "Lay Your Hands on Me" has got to be near the top of the list. Although by the time Miley Cyrus's godmother gets through personalizing the song there's not enough of the original left to call it a cover - just a word or two here and there and the chorus, which for those of you who have forgotten this masterpiece of 80's hair metal is just the title of the song repeated almost enough times to make a ...
CD review - Better Day If Dolly Parton were to host a summer replacement daytime TV show, her new record album could very well be the soundtrack. It is so totally Dolly - an hour's worth of can-do, I'm-country-gol'-dang-it-but-don't-forget-I'm-Hollywood, yet never abandoning the singer-songwriter that's been her overriding trademark. It gets a little silly, which you expect from Dolly. In fact, the song she co-wrote with Mac Davis, Country Is as Country Does - gets a lot silly. ...
