McCollum, SCR, Adkins release new music

Friday, October 16, 2020 – Texas singer Parker McCollum makes his Universal debut with "Hollywood Gold." Produced by Jon Randall Stewart, McCollum wrote five of the six songs. "Hollywood Gold" is named after his grandfather's prized horse. McCollum has enjoyed some success with his first major label single, "Pretty Heart." The only song McCollum didn't write was "Like a Cowboy," written by Chris Stapleton.

Steep Canyon Rangers' 13th album, "Arm In Arm," is out today on Yep Roc Records. Produced by the band and Brandon Bell (Zac Brown, John Prine), "Arm In Arm" follows "North Carolina Songbook," an eight-song live album recorded at Merlefest featuring reinterpretations of songs from cross-generational North Carolina icons; and "Be Still Moses," an 11-song collaboration between the band and the Asheville Symphony, which featured a collaboration with Boyz II Men and the Asheville Symphony on the title track. The Steep Canyon Rangers are Woody Platt, Graham Sharp, Mike Guggino, Nicky Sanders, Mike Ashworth and Barrett Smith.

Trace Adkins put out an EP, "Ain't That Kind of Cowboy," on Verge, his first for the label. The six songs are the follow-up to 2017's "Something's Going On." Adkins went into the studio with producer Bart Butler had already released "Mind on Fishin'" and "Better Off." John and TJ Osborne wrote "Big" along with John Pierce.

Runaway June dropped a holiday EP," When I Think About Christmas." This five-track EP features three Christmas classics and two Runaway June Christmas originals. The new songs Sam Hollander and Martin Johnson's "Christmas On The Radio" and the title track, co-written by Runaway June's Jennifer Wayne, Josh Matheny, and Tiffany Goss.

William Elliott Whitmore, an Iowa-born singer of country, folk and American blues, country, put down "I'm With You," a nine-song release on Bloodshot. This is his ninth album overall and first release of original material since 2015's "Radium Death" (ANTI-).

Louisiana native Jaden Hamilton not only signed with Sony Nashville, but also released a four-song EP, ""Ain't That Something." Hamilton, who gained a following on TikTok, was influenced by George Strait and Cody Johnson.
