Allen set to publish children's book

Tuesday, October 20, 2020 – Jimmie Allen will publish his debut picture book, "My Voice is a Trumpet," in July 2021.

The book will be published on July 13, 2021 by Flamingo Books, an imprint of Penguin Young Readers. Illustrated by Cathy Ann Johnson, the book is a story about speaking up for what you believe in, at any age.

"It's very important to me that kids learn at a young age that they have a voice and that it is powerful. It is up to us as adults to teach them to use their voice to encourage and show love," said Allen. "Being a father of two kids, I try to encourage them to be themselves and love everyone around them. I'm hoping this book inspires at least one child and they always remember their voice is a trumpet."

"I was inspired by an interview Jimmie gave in the wake of the protests against police brutality in summer of 2020 and knew he would be the perfect author for a children's book," said Margaret Anastas, who will edit the book. "My Voice Is a Trumpet is a gentle call to action and a reminder that there's never a wrong time to use your voice."

Ah, but he didn't. For some unknown reason, Allen found it necessary to include ...
CD review - Memory Lane Jimmie Allen's "Mercury Lane" is an album of likeable pop-country. Being likeable is always a good thing, but an album of music merely that is not a sonic description that leads directly to a hearty recommendation. The production on the full-length is big, bright - and in a word - pop. Allen may be a country guy, but these 15 songs will never be confused with real country sounds. Lyrically, Allen - who had a hand in writing most of this album - pushes many of the right radio ...
