Sony signs Willie Jones
Tuesday, March 16, 2021 – Willie Jones, a Black country singer from Louisiana who puts some hip hop in his music, signed with Sony in partnership with the Penthouse.
"Whoa," said Jones, who independently released "Right Now" in January. "I can't wait to see what's down this road. I appreciate everyone who has been part of the Willie Jones story so far, and I'm truly blessed. Now, let's get it."
"Right Now" features the patriotic single "American Dream." He also recently performed the track on NBC's "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon." Jones gained some recognition for his song "Bachelorettes on Broadway," about the bachelorette scene in Nashville.

Louisiana-born, Black country singer Willie Jones might best be thought of as a hybrid artist who brings a signature blend of country, pop, soul and hip-hop to the genre. He also brings that swampy element that's long been missing as we recall Jerry Reed and Tony Joe White. Willie Jones is promoted as an artist blending country and hip-hop. However, that's not exactly the blend many of us usually want. It's like those that don't like their differing foods touching on their dinner plate. Each of these genres can stand up quite well on their own, thank you very much. However, even if you're not quite down for this mix and match musical approach, you may still enjoy Jones' music.
