Big Machine, Geffen, Rebel partner on Kidd G

Thursday, May 6, 2021 – Big Machine Label Group's The Valory Music Co. joined with Rebel Music and Geffen Records in a partnership supporting 18-year-old recording artist Kidd G.

The Georgia-bred singer/songwriter joins The Valory Music Co.'s roster. The BMLG imprint will provide genre support through country radio, commerce and marketing as Rebel Music and Geffen Records continue leading the efforts for Kidd G in various hybrid markets.

"When we partnered with Kidd G last year, we knew it would take a special team to help him build his unique fanbase around the world" says Rebel Music Founder and CEO, Javier Sang. "With Geffen and Big Machine Label Group on board with us, he has a true dream team set up for him to win."

"Kidd G is the sound of the next wave of great Georgia artists who've combined country and hip Hop in their own unique way," says Big Machine Label Group President/CEO Scott Borchetta. "Not unlike Jason Aldean or Brantley Gilbert before him, Kidd is a southern boy who will blur and ultimately stretch format lines."

Kidd G gained attention with his single "Dirt Road." His first release under the new arrangement follows the December launch of "Teenage Dream: 1000 Miles from Georgia," a deluxe version of his debut EP.

Growing up in the small Georgia town of Hamilton (population 1,130), Kidd G first found fame online through TikTok and SoundCloud, where he posted songs he'd recorded with his friend Nolie Beats. In spring 2020, he caught the attention of Rebel Music, who signed him on the strength of his genre-warping talents. While early tracks like his debut single "Sorry" lean toward traditional hip-hop, he later brought an element of old school country into his songwriting. Another song, "Dirt Road," quickly gained 5 million views on YouTube in one month.

"I love country because it feels so natural to me, and you can really tell stories in the songs," said Kidd G, naming Hank Williams Jr. as an influence.
