Chesney, Ballerini win early CMA honors

Wednesday, November 10, 2021 – Kenny Chesney and Kelsea Ballerini were the early winners of Country Music Association awards today.

First-time CMA Awards winner Kelsea Ballerini and nine-time CMA Awards winner, Kenny Chesney take home trophies in two categories for "half of my hometown." Produced by Ballerini, Ross Copperman and Jimmy Robbins the collaboration won both the CMA Musical Event of the Year and CMA Music Video of the Year categories. The video was directed by Patrick Tracy.

The announcement took place live on ABC's "Good Morning America," as the show took over Bridgestone Plaza in downtown Nashville where Old Dominion took to the Bridgestone Plaza stage to perform their songs "Hotel Key" and "All I Know About Girls."

The awards show airs tonight from 8-11 p.m. eastern on ABC.

CD review - kelsea Once unheard of, more than a few of today's country queens don't necessarily stick to their own genre. Kelsea Ballerini's most streamed track by far is her collaboration with The Chainsmokers, "This Feeling." That's not to say the rest of her catalog did poorly. Ballerini scored a top five country album out of the gate with her debut in 2015. "The First Time" had great flavors of R&B and sounded very assured for a come-out roll. ...
