Smith takes over radio show

Wednesday, December 8, 2021 – Granger Smith will be the new host of Premiere Network's nationally syndicated After MidNite next month, it was announced today.

Smith will take overfor Cody Alan, whose departure was announced on Tuesday.

"We couldn't be happier to welcome a multiplatform talent of Granger's caliber to our Premiere family," said President Julie Talbott. "His unique point of view as a country music artist will undoubtedly resonate with our loyal listeners, and we're confident he'll bring a new level of energy and excitement and a connection with people that will really shine on After MidNite."

CMT had been involved in collaborating on the show, but that will no longer be the case.

Smith is the third permanent host of the show. Blair Garner, who founded the show in 1993, hosted until June 2013. Alan eventually over that November.

Smith has other media ventures as well. Smith will continue to host and produce his Granger Smith podcast and his family YouTube show The Smiths. Smith also takes a lead role at the apparel/lifestyle brand Yee Yee Apparel, which he started with his brothers Parker and Tyler.

It is appropriate that Florida Georgia Line's Tyler Hubbard has a co-write credit. Much like FGL's sound, this effort feels like it was presented to a focus group of contemporary country listeners for approval before the final cut.
