DelFest returns after two-year COVID absence
Thursday, December 16, 2021 – DelFest, the genre-spanning festival brainchild of McCoury Music and High Sierra Music, is back this May after a two-year COVID-induced absence.
The festival will be held in Cumberland, Md. from May. 26-29.
Festival hosts The Del McCoury Band and The Travelin' McCourys, are joined by Railroad Earth, Bela Fleck's My Bluegrass Heart, Sam Bush, Leftover Salmon, Watchhouse, California Honeydrops, Sierra Hull, Anders Osborne & Jackie Green, Cabinet, and The Lil Smokies.
Other artists include Sister Sadie, Della Mae, Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley, The Hot Club of Cowtown, the Seldom Scene, The Lonesome River Bad and Steve Poltz.
More artists will be added to the line up.
Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. eastern including four-day passes at a special holiday price of $230.50.

For two years we've been hearing of this recording, a project where original lyrics from Woody Guthrie were to be reinvented as bluegrass songs by the legendary Del McCoury. Like previous sets from Billy Bragg & Wilco (3 volumes of "Mermaid Avenue" released between 1998-2012), Jay Farrar, et al ("New Multitudes," 2012) and The Klezmatics (a pair of 2006 releases), lyrics stored within the Woody Guthrie Archives were turned over to McCoury to be repurposed. ...
