Guyton named to sing National Anthem at Super Bowl
Tuesday, February 1, 2022 – Mickey Guyton was given a big musical honor today - singing at the Super Bowl in Los Angeles on Feb. 13.
Guyton broke the news on her Instagram page today: "Look at God. I am shook, I am grateful, I am praise dancing...So excited to be singing the national anthem."
Guyton, a Black country artist, released her first solo album, "Remember Her Name," this past September after having released four EPs during her tenure on Capitol Nashville.
Guyton's star has risen dramatically in the wake of the attention focused on the lack of Black performers in country music.
Other Super Bowl National Anthem singers have included Garth Brooks, Charley Pride, Faith Hill, The Dixie Chicks (now called The Chicks), Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan and Eric Church and Jazmine Sullivan.
