McCollum, Wilson win ACM new artist honors

Friday, March 4, 2022 – Parker McCollum and Lainey Wilson were crowned this year's Academy of Country Music's New Male and New Female Artist of the Year respectively today.

Each will also perform at this year's ceremony on Monday night in Las Vegas.

Miranda Lambert told Wilson the news via a video chat, which left Wilson in tears.

Lambert left McCollum open-mouthed in surprise with her chat.

McCollum released his major label debut album, "Gold Chain Cowboy," last year, expanding on his "Hollywood Gold EP," which became the top-selling debut country EP of 2020.

Wilson is also nominated for ACM Song of the Year for her first number one hit, "Things a Man Oughta Know," off her debut album "Sayin' What I'm Thinkin'."

The ACMs also announced that Lady A would perform. The event will be on Prime Video at 8 p.m.eastern.
