For MacKenzie Carpenter, it's been quite the week
The singer/songwriter got engaged over the weekend and today, it was announced that she signed with The Valory Music Co. imprint, part of Big Machine Label Group.
"I've always been all about the music and writing," said Carpenter. "My dad told me if I was going to do this, I needed to write the songs before anything else could happen. So, I've been really focused on that, on trying to be the most true I could be to who I am."
Hailing from Athens, Ga., Carpenter has a soulful country style. She sang at her local church as a kid. She was inspired by her dad to begin writing songs while her two older brothers taught her how to play guitar.
While attending Belmont University in Nashville, Carpenter immersed herself in the Nashville songwriting community which led to her co-writing Lily Rose's breakthrough "Villain." She has opened for Parker McCollum, Craig Campbell, Ryan Hurd, and fellow The Valory Music Co. labelmate Conner Smith.
"Can't Nobody" is Carpenter's first release and will be available this Friday on streaming platforms.
Carpenter will tour with Jake Owen this fall.
