Underwood, Moon release new music; Griffin sort of does
Niko Moon dropped his new RCA Nashville/Sony Music Nashville EP, "Coastin'." All five songs included on the new EP were co-written and co-produced by Moon, and he co-penned "Easy Tonight" with Patrick Davis, Wyatt Durrette, Levi Lowrey, Kevin Mac, Anna Moon and co-producer Joshua Murty. Anna Moon, Niko's wife, helped write all of the songs. Moon broke with the hit "Good Time," which also was the name of his debut CD, which came out in August 2021.
Patty Griffin releases "Tape," a collection of rare demos and home recordings on her own PGM Recordings label via Thirty Tigers. Griffin said she "was digging through my own music streaming to relearn some of my own oldies and found something that had been compiled (perhaps by a computer algorithm) that was titled as a 'rarities' or 'deep cuts' collection." While she remembered not thinking much of what she recorded back then, she admitted she felt differently today. The release contains 10 songs.

It makes logical sense that Carrie Underwood, arguably mainstream country music's best pure vocalist, would make a Christmas album. And make no mistake about it, this is a 'Christmas' album, as opposed to a 'holiday' release. These 11 tracks are nearly all spiritual in nature. Therefore, you won't hear about Santa, reindeer or even toys under the tree.
