Wednesday, February 22, 2023 – Songwriter and producer Kyle Jacobs, the husband of Kellie Pickler, died at 49 on Feb. 17 at his home of a self-inflicted gunshot.

Jacobs co-wrote Garth Brooks' "More Than A Memory" and co-produced Lee Brice's "Hard 2 Love" album and single, "I Drive Your Truck," which earned him a CMA and an ACM for Song Of The Year. Jacobs and Brice worked together as co-writers and co-producers on each of Brice's albums and singles.

Trace Adkins, Jo Dee Messina, Craig Morgan, Tim McGraw, Clay Walker, Kelly Clarkson, Scotty McCreery and Pickler all covered his songs.

Jacobs was born in Bloomington, Minn. on Jan. 26, 1973.

Jacobs and Pickler were engaged in 2010 and wed Jan. 1, 2011. The couple starred in the CMT reality series, "I Love Kellie Pickler," from 2015-2017.

"Kyle Jacobs was one of those amazing creative talents who understood all genres of music," said Curb|Word Chairman Mike Curb. "Most importantly, Kyle was part of our Curb|Word family and an inspiration to all of us."

Lee Brice said of Jacobs, "These past few days have truly been some of the hardest of my life. At times, I feel lost and buried under this deep sadness. Other times, I sit and remember all the times with Kyle that bring me comfort and make me smile. He was, without a doubt, one of the best people anyone could ever hope to have in their corner. I am eternally grateful for having him in mine. I'll keep Kellie, his family and everyone who was touched by him close to my heart. I'll miss you til we meet again..I love you, brother."

CD reviews for Lee Brice

CD review - Lee Brice Lee Brice's self-titled album is the kind we wish Zac Brown was still making. Granted, it doesn't include the faux reggae and jam band tendencies. "What Keeps You Up at Night," which reads like a dirty laundry list of every insomniac's nightmare, opens the disc. The single "Boy" is a ...
CD review - I Don't Dance The cover of "I Don't Dance" features a glam shot of Lee Brice standing in a spotlight, looking more like a pop artist than a country singer. Listeners who prefer their country on the gritty side might be scared off by the pretty cover shot. The music matches the image: pop influenced mainstream country music, in the vein of contemporaries Jake Owen and Kip Moore. The success of his sophomore release emboldened Lee Brice. His first two albums introduced the country scene to his ...

While that set the South Carolina native up for a doozy of a sophomore slump, he sidesteps it with ease. Brice simply has too many weapons - a songwriter's ear, soulful voice and some very able co-writer friends (Rhett Atkins, Eric Church) to veer far off course. A Woman Like You has already topped the country single charts. ...
