Kent debuts with "Blacktop"

Saturday, April 15, 2023 – Oklahoma native/Texas based rising country singer/songwriter Corey Kent will put out third album "Blacktop" on June 2 via RCA Nashville/Sony Music Nashville .

Kent also release a new track, "Something's Gonna Kill Me," on Friday.

"'Something's Gonna Kill Me' is a song I wrote about taking risks," said Kent. "Some of my favorite things in life could kill me, but they're also the things that make me feel most alive. I love a Sunday afternoon motorcycle ride. I love smoking a cigar on my back porch with a good friend. This song is a realization that life is short, and you gotta takes some risks to make the most of it."

The 10-track album features writing credits including Kent as well as Morgan Wallen, Ryan Hurd, Kelly Archer and Lydia Vaughan with production from Jay Joyce and Chris Farren. The album features already released tracks, "Man of the House," "How You Know You Made It," "Hood of that Car" and Kent's platinum RIAA certified single "Wild As Her."

On the touring front, Kent kicked off 2023 joining Parker McCollum, is confirmed to play Stagecoach (April 29), Tortuga Music Festival (April 15), headline his own show in Nashville (June 2), play CMA Fest (June 8) and tour all summer on Jason Aldean's Highway Desperado Tour.

In 2020, Kent released the LP, "From the West." In December 2021, Kent released his sophomore album, "'21." Both albums were released via Combustion Music. On March 4, 2022, Smith released his hit single "Wild As Her" and shortly after signed his deal with Sony Music Nashville and their RCA Nashville Imprint. Kent released two additional tracks in 2022, "Hood of That Car" and "How You Know You Made It" as well as his "'22 Tapes" EP, a collection of four songs.

CD review - Blacktop Sonically, Corey Kent's music many times sounds closer to Bryan Adams than, say, Zach Bryan. It's not all that country, instrumentally.
