Wilson enjoys "absolutely surreal" feeling with CMA nominations

Thursday, September 7, 2023 – Lainey Wilson was understandably quite thrilled to receive nine CMA Awards nominations on Thursday.

"Being nominated in these categories with my friends means the world to me," she said on X, formerly known as Twitter. "Entertainer Of The Year?! Absolutely surreal. We bust our butts on the road every night to give yall the best show & I have the time of my life doing it. All I gotta say is thank yall. I love country music.

"Holy moly y'all. Someone pinch me. I can't believe my eyes. 🥹 I'm so proud of everything we've done this year for my own music and these collabs with my brothers @hardy and @jellyroll615. Thank y'all for having me on these songs ❤️"

Jelly Roll said on X, "It is known as Country Musics (sic) biggest night. It literally doesn't get any bigger than this and I have 5 nominations. I couldn't control myself when I got the news..everything about this is unrelease. The truth is being nominated is already a win for me. Just being recognized by my pers and by the industry for the work we put in is amazing, especially for my people, this is a win for all the underdogs and forgotten. These are the moments I hope people are most proud of, that I have taken our message to the masses with out comprise and have been embraced. Thank you to the CMA's. This is magical and you can bet the farm that my wife and will show up dressed to impress yet as trashy as ever. – see y'all November 8th."

Megan Moroney, who was nominated for Song of the Year and New Artist of the Year, said, "I grew up watching the CMA Awards and thought it was the coolest thing last year that I got to be a host on the red carpet and attend... now I'm lucky enough to be nominated for two awards and it doesn't feel real!"

Zac Brown Band tweeted, "Always an honor!" regarding its Vocal Group of the Year nomination.

Nominated with Jo Dee Messina for Vocal Event of the Year for "She Had Me At Heads Carolina," Cole Swindell said, "I grew up on 90s Country Music and @jodeemessina...it is an absolute honor to be recognized alongside her with this CMA Nomination 🤝 Thank you Country Music."

Charlie Worsham, who was nominated in the Musician of the Year category, said on X, "hell of a thing to wake up to this morning! thank you @CountryMusic and congrats to my fellow nominees! the Nashville musician community is near and dear to my heart. proud to represent it alongside some of my favorite people and friends."
